Progress Update (and a slight change of plans)

Having been a bit busy for the last couple of weeks, this update is a collection of updates on different fronts šŸ™‚ Though I am interjecting my goal of “Khador Kompletion” with getting some Infinity and Aristeia things done in preparation for BonesCon. Read more to see more!

First up, I painted up Lord Koslov for my Khador – the first painted mini in a good long while, and while basing is to be completed at a later stage, I don’t think my lack of recent experience is too obvious…

Following him, I cracked on with my unit of Assault Kommandos (sans Weapon Attachments as they weren’t primed). For these guys, I wanted them to appear to be in largely black armour, and rather than prime black and highlight, I decided to try from the other direction and primed grey, followed by a couple of heavy black washes. I am not dissatisfied with the result, but I don’t think I will go this way again (outside of the WAs so that they will at least match the unit).

At this point I received the below bag of perspex joy from, ordered way back during their Black Friday sale.

A couple of evenings of gluing (using PVA, so that it doesn’t frost) results in a much more tidy arrangement šŸ™‚

On the whole, I love the effect of this set on the table, and it makes for a significantly more attractive board (and somehow, feels a lot more cramped), however I will say that the attention to detail on the tolerances of the cuts was a little disappointing – mainly with regards to one red piece that was flush on one side with the adjacent white piece. But that said, from afar and mid-game, this is largely unnoticeable and adds to the atmosphere of the game greatly! (as you can see below)

Whilst I lost the game above, I did win the one after by the skin of my teeth! (tied VP and I only scored the deciding frag in the last round).

Finally, with the addition of the Druze Bayram Security sectorial to Infinity, I was very tempted… I have always liked the Druze sculpts (even before they were re-done), and the same goes for Scarface and Cordelia. Throw in some models that I had that I never had a use for (N3, HSN3, Artbook promo models, and Le Muet who rarely sees the table), and I have a functioning list! (some proxies required – Original Miranda = Valerya, and Yudbots from my Aleph as Nasmats)

Open in Infinity Army

Whilst the aim is to have this ready for BonesCon (quick and dirty scheme in mind with a reasonable amount of “tactical black”), this is the last you will see of them until April probably, as I will try and enter the MayaCast MasterClass painting competition, as this quarters’ theme is anything Druze related šŸ™‚ But there is the requirement that I can’t share any completed pics until after the competition is over.

Now for the change of focus (aside from the Druze force above); I am going to be assisting with Aristeia demos at Bonescon which will look great with the terrain above. But it could look better. So, my next priority above everything else is to get a basic paint scheme on my plastic* Aristeia figures.

*CB plastic models are fantastic for mass-produced and pre-assembled boardgame figures. But I did go for the Collectors Edition that includes duplicate metal versions of the core 8 Aristos. These will be done later with a much more considered paint scheme!
